So in the wonderful fairy tale land of Marvel comics came a day when, all hell broke loose. Breaking
free from Marvel, Todd McFarlane and many others struck out to form their own publishing companies. Image was
born. Image Comics is the third or fourth largest comic book publisher in the United States. It was founded in 1992
by seven high-profile illustrators as a venue where creators could publish their material without giving up the copyrights
to the characters they created. Image's success has significantly changed the position of creators in the comic book
industry, but infighting between its partners and their lack of business experience have contributed to sometimes-volatile
fortunes for the company.Its better-known series include Gen13, The Savage Dragon, Spawn, WildC.A.T.s, Witchblade,
and Youngblood.
