I played D&D exactly once... I was transformed into a thistle, carried around in a backpack for three hours, and at the end I was a thistle with experience.

| Apocalypse’s Horsemen take off for Manhattan, intent on causing mayhem and destruction. X-Factor, restrained, is unable to help. Beast uses some of his remaining brain power and figures out a way to get Iceman free, who in turn sets his teammates loose. They battle with Apocalypse, and he manages to get Cyclops and Marvel Girl sucked out of the ship. Jean and Scott go after the Horsemen. First off is Pestilence who gets away. Then Jean goes for Famine and Scott goes for War. Both of their battles are incomplete when Apocalypse teleports them away. Back on the ship, Iceman and Beast go after En Sabah Nur. Beast rips out a piece of the ship’s wall, which causes the cloaking mechanism to fail and the ship’s stabilizers to go offline. With the ship in a tailspin, Jean and Scott decide to return to the ship to try and help. They run into Death and have a brief scuffle. They continue towards the ship, which hits the antenna on top of the Empire State Building. Jean holds it in the air, but Warren comes flying through and slices it in half. At this time Power Pack shows up and lends a hand. Back on the ship, Iceman and Beast manage to surprise Apocalypse, so he takes it up a notch and has Warren teleported to the fight. With Death gone, Scott and Jean head back to the ship leaving Power Pack behind to watch over the city. War and Death go after X-Factor and Iceman comes up with a plan to snap Warren out of Apocalypse’s hold. Then Warren spots Iceman and goes in for the kill, shattering him in his ice form. Luckily, it was only an ice sculpture, but the trick worked and Warren realizes what he’s doing. Now X-Factor’s back together and they go after Apocalypse. He escapes, though, with War and Caliban in tow. A gaggle of news people await outside to interview them. The team publicly declares the truth about X-Factor and Cyclops gives a message to humans everywhere: not all mutants are evil. |

Gifts It’s Christmas in New York, and the members of X-Factor can finally celebrate after their battle with Apocalypse and
his Horsemen. Iceman constructs a gigantic ice-sculpture Christmas tree atop the damaged Empire State Building, while X-Factor’s students encounter some
inquisitive humans. The kids explain that they’ve learned to control their powers and that they are no threat to humanity. Meanwhile, the former Angel views the
scene from afar of humans and mutants celebrating together with disgust. On the ground, Cyclops catches the end of a news broadcast announcing the death
of the X-Men, along with a clip of Madelyne Pryor saying her goodbyes. Scott is surprised, as he’s been under the impression that Maddie was long dead. Back
at the ship, Sgt. Miller and Lt. Craig donate a Christmas tree, complete with ornaments, to X-Factor as anti-mutant protesters shout their derisions from behind
barricades. Inside the ship, they try to get a feel for the computer systems, and Beast vents his frustration at his diminishing intellect. Meanwhile, in
Annandale-on-Hudson, Jean pays a visit to her family to let them know she’s alive, only to learn her sister Sara is missing. Aboard the ship, the kids are surprised
and overjoyed by the multitude of gifts given to them by grateful citizens. After some protest by Boom-Boom, they decide to donate the gifts to the children who
were hospitalized following X-Factor’s battle with Apocalypse. They sneak out of the ship, but Jean returns just after they leave. Alarmed by their absence, she
awakens Beast and Iceman and they search for the kids. They find them just in time, as they are about to be held up by a gang of thugs. The kids explain
themselves, and the whole group head off to the hospital. The whole time, the ship’s been repairing itself, unbeknownst to anyone, save Apocalypse and his
Horsemen. Watching from an unknown location, they raise their glasses in a toast. Apocalypse calls the ship a gift to X-Factor, on a Christmas which may be
their last. . . |

Inside, they find a cavern full of household objects that have been turned into gold. The team is confronted by the Troll Associates, whose size and strength allow them to quickly capture X-Factor and bind them in golden chains.
